Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics

Media Credit: Will Halsey

7 games into Greg Robinson's disastrous third season (his whole tenure has been a disaster, if he was a family pet he would have been put down after the Miami of Ohio game) it's time to check in on where Syracuse ranks statistically among Division I programs (and it will always be Division I - not that moronic Bowl Subdivision title the NCAA has given it).

All rankings are out of 119 teams:

Offense

Rushing Offense - 118. The team's AVERAGE YARDS PER CARRY is 1.87 - this is not a typo people
Passing Offense - 81st. Buffalo, the next opponent is 82
Total Offense - 116. Only Utah State, Florida International and Notre Dame are worse
Scoring Offense - 117. They've scored 112 points the entire season - Boise State scored 69 last night
Sacks allowed 118 - Andrew Robinson goes down 4.4 times per game

Defense

Rushing Defense - 115. Teams run for 233.7 yards per game against them - which is 187.3 more yards per game given up than former conference colleague Boston College
Pass Defense - 96. If you don't feel like running, throw it - you'll net nearly 260 yards through the air against the cuse
Total Defense - 114. You can expect to roll up nearly 500 yards per game against when playing Syracuse. I wish we had coach who was a former defensive coordinator in the NFL.....wait a minute
Scoring Defense - 111. Teams have scored 263 points against SU
Sacks - 116. They average LESS THAN ONE SACK per game (5 sacks in 7 games).

So, in a nutshell:

  • The AVERAGE SCORE of a Syracuse football game is 38-16.
  • The opposing team will out gain SU by 230 total yards.
  • Andrew Robinson will get dumped with the ball 4 or 5 times per game and the opposing QB should walk off the field without a scratch.

The only "Sudden Impact" this season has been poor Andrew Robinson getting destroyed before he even reaches the top of his drop. Greg Robinson needs to be let go at the end of this year, the players on this team deserve better.
