Let me sum up last night by saying - that sucked. Now that the Bronx Bombers have flamed out in the playoffs again, in no particular order here's what's running through my head:
- Here's hoping Big Stein doesn't hit the panic button and move any young pitching in the off-season, it would be the worst over reaction possible (even worse than firing Torre). Call me an idiot, but I'd rather have Philip Hughes, Ian Kennedy and Joba Chamberlain over almost everyone else who may be available.
- Enjoy $350 million at your next destination A-Rod. The Yanks wouldn't have made the post season without you, they haven't got out of the first round of the playoffs in the last 3 years with you.
- Joe Torre really shouldn't lose his job, but if he's gone, the list should be Donnie Baseball and Joe Giradi - and that's it. That's the list Wilbon - go no further.
- Retire Roger - please just F-ing retire, it's over.
- Chien-Ming Wang - the anti-Pettitte. He was completely rattled this post season, here's hoping he learns from it. He was more nervous than Travis Henry at a paternity hearing.
- Andy Pettitte should be kept around, the guy has ice water in his veins, which leads me to...........
- Can someone, anyone please take Giambi? I'd trade him for a bag of Cheetos, but since Cheetos are delicious, I doubt any team would make that move. Cheetos are more cost effective too.
- I don't think Rivera and Posada have a lot left, but seeing them in anything but a Yankee uniform would be depressing.
- Melky Cabrera should be the center fielder for the next 10 years.
- Find a place for Shelley Duncan to play everyday.
-I'm a moron, but I'd keep Damon around. Abreu would be nice to have, but not at the price he'll get somewhere else.
- Got relief pitching anyone? The Yanks need to get some this off season.
- Keep the kids, play the kids, find a few savvy vets to plug in around them and next year could be fun. In other words, Steinbrenner should take a hint from George Costanza and do the opposite of every instinct he possesses.
- F Boston.
