Come to Greece - it Pays to Get Fired

Listen men, if you play your cards right, you'll be out of here with half your salary in a few weeks

Gerry McNamara, the God of Madison Square Garden, Scranton, and almost all Syracuse fans was cut loose by a Greek professional team shortly after the season began - marking the second time in two years that he's had an extremely brief tenure as a professional basketball player in that country.

While I'm sure Gerry is disappointed, the beloved former Orangemen can take solace in the fact that he was reportedly paid $200,000 for his brief stay - not bad for 3 games work. While I've never seen a figure put on how much he was paid for his one minute of playing time last year - Wikipedia says it is estimated he made $90,000. There's not really any documentation on that figure, so who knows if it's accurate, but I'm sure he was paid something and the lesson is simple - if you don't want to do very much work, yet want to get paid - move to Greece.

Good luck to G-Mac, I hope he's able to continue his career somewhere, however, if he's still reviewing his career options, Troy Nunes is an Absolute Magician has some options he can check out.
