I'm Surprised it Took This Long

Syracuse University quarterback Andrew Robinson is one tough son of bitch. The beating he's taken this year behind one of the nation's worst offensive lines has been severe, and it's finally taken it's toll. Donnie Webb is reporting that Robinson has a cracked rib and his status for this weekend's game against South Florida is up in the air.

Personally, I think it makes sense to rest him this week and let him heal. South Florida, while certainly struggling, is tied 33rd in the country in sacks and will no doubt be fired up and ready to take out the frustrations of the 3 game losing streak on the Orange. Besides, Cameron Dantley certainly proved last week that's he a capable back up, so there's no need to let ARob take another Evander Holyfield style beating for no good reason.

I'm not a doctor and Holiday Inns suck, but if worse came to worse, it's an injury that he could play with if he had to, just ask Marc Bulger. Hopefully he won't need to step out on the field and heals up quickly, he's played hard and been a strong leader this year.

The only thing that CAN NOT HAPPEN is for SU to burn a redshirt year for either Cody Catalina or David Legree. Patrick Shadle should be under center before either of these two guys see the field this year. To waste a year of eligibility now on either of these promising prospects is beyond comprehension, but I mention it because sometimes Robinson has a history of not knowing things............
