With more than half the backcourt either having been injured or quit, there is no margin for error with the 2007-08 Syracuse Orange, which makes games like the one Saturday against USF even more important. If they want to make the tournament they simply can not afford to give away games to teams they should beat. Overall, the win was a good one and could be important down the road.
Here are a few observations:
* That might have been the best game I've seen Paul Harris play - he was under control, made mid range jump shots, had 13 boards and only 1 turnover in 39 minutes of play.
* There's not much more you can say about Donte Greene, we all know he can score, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks are impressive numbers for a guy who likes to spend a lot of time behind the 3 point line.
* Arinze held up very well against Gransberry, with both teams playing a lot of zone it wasn't really a one on one matchup, but I'll take 16 points and 12 boards any night of the week. Anyone who doesn't love what the big fella is doing is clearly insane - or a UConn fan.
* I really like Rick Jackson, but he was awful on Saturday. He turned it over, didn't finish well, didn't catch the ball well - but he's a freshman, it happens. Here's hoping it doesn't happen often.
* The Belgian Waffle must lead the country in fouls per minute played.
Here's what some other cuse bloggers are saying:
* Cuse Country has up the chart showing how Syracuse won.
* Orange Hoops recaps the performance.
* CuseAdelphia recaps the game and provides analysis of the tempo.
* Nick's Two Cents says it's Arinze's World And We're Just Living in it (he's right).
