It's been two days since the epic Syracuse collapse against Pitt and the question that I still can't shake - how did that happen and why? Obviously the turnovers were devastating, but franky the defense hasn't been good all year and Saturday was no exception. Pitt shot nearly 50% from the floor, out rebounded the Orange by 6 (including 12 offensive rebounds) and only turned it over 14 times. The zone hasn't been good this year, but complaining about it is like complaining about snow in Syracuse, because its not going anywhere.
Some other interesting box score oddities that caught my eye:
* Kristof! played 34 minutes and didn't take a single shot or get to the foul line.
* Scoop Jardine and Rick Jackson logged 15 minutes of playing time combined.
* Syracuse had 4 guys with 4 or more assists.
* Only one guy had more than three turnovers.
* Gilbert Brown from Pitt is shooting less than 26% for the season from 3 point land, he made 2-3 v. the cuse.
The way things stand now, even with an EXTREMELY WEAK bubble SU isn't getting in to the NCAA tournament, which means at a minimum there will be a FIVE YEAR span between tournament victories, that's pretty horrible.
