The Mariners and Rangers got into it pretty good last, culminating with a fourth inning, bench clearing brawl that started when Richie Sexson charged the mound after Texas pitcher Kason Gabbard threw him a pitch that was eye high (Sexson is 6'8"). The problem was that the pitch wasn't even close to being inside. With that mastery of the strike zone, it's no surprise why Sexson is hitting .209 this year. Maybe Richie just needs some love, or a nice mixed tape to calm him down.

I'm not going to side with Richie and say that he was all in the right when it came to this brawl, but did any of you people actually WATCH the entire game?? Seriously? I'll think you'll find if you had actually watched the game like I did, that you're not actually grasping the entire story if you're just assuming that Richie stormed the mound because a pitch was thrown at the height of his head. NO, that was not the case, yeah it added to his anger, BUT if had watched the game you would realize that he stormed the mound due to the growing anger towards the rangers pitcher. The Mariners pitcher was throwing some wild pitches that night, but NOT on purpose. When the Rangers pitcher took the mound the next inning he threw a pitch to a player before Richie that DID almost hit him in the head and Richie came up and when the ball was thrown again at his head, clearly on purpose, he stormed the mound. So stop claiming that Richie is such an idiot because he had no right to storm the mound and that it was totally unwarranted because it was.
A) Apparently mariner fans are awfully touchy these days - who knew?
B) Click on the links - the story I linked to in the post explained the situation (that there were guys being hit by pitches before sexson got to the plate) as did the video clip at the end that shows others getting hit before sexson attacked.
C) "stop claiming richie is an idiot" - no where in the post did we call Richie an idiot. We call ourselves idiots, because we are - simmer down sparky.
D) The pitch was miles from hitting him, Sexson was looking for an excuse to fight - that's fine, but let's not pretend it was anything different than that.
E) Kudos to you for watching an entire mariners-rangers game - I don't think I could sit through one of those.
