Maybe Derrick Coleman refuses to talk to NY Post NBA columnist Peter Vecsey - it's certainly a possibility. Coleman did play quite a few years in New Jersey, and Mr. Whoop De Damn Do was no shrinking violet in those days. Vecsey has always been a writer who was never afraid to take a shot - or multiple shots - at the athletes he covers, so its certainly conceivable that the two aren't on speaking terms. I try to surmise all this, because there are two follow up stories to Vecsey's erroneous item, printed Friday in the Post, that DC needs a heart transplant, and that's the only possible explanation this idiot can see to explain why Vecsey still hasn't spoken to Coleman about his own condition. Well the other explanation is that he's a lazy, sloppy, arrogant reporter who's been doing this so long her barely gives a shit anymore....but that couldn't be the case.

As you can see, Waters actually calls Coleman and interviews him - he provides some background on the condition and why DC is in the hospital. Vecsey on the other hand never bothers (again, maybe DC hates him or something) but does manage to get Coleman's wife on the phone, who tells Petey that Derrick doesn't need a heart transplant.....yet. There was no apology, no retraction of any sort, and no details about Coleman. In other words, print what you want and the chips fall where they may - Buzz Bissinger better be irate about this.
