One Man's Pain is Our Pleasure

For Syracuse University basketball fans, 2003 was the pinnacle - it simply can not get any better than winning a National Championship. However, for Michael Lee - better known as the guy who had his shot swatted away by Hakim Warrick, things were a little rough.

ESPN's Dana O'Neil catches up with Lee, now an assistant coach at Gardner-Webb and replays the moment Warrick blocked that shot. For Kansas fans, its basically their Keith Smart moment. The article doesn't really break any new ground, but it did make this idiot smile. My two favorite quotes from the story:

"From a distance that seemed too far to be covered by anyone not wearing a cape, Syracuse forward Hakim Warrick jumped in front of Lee."

And this one:

"He wondered whether maybe his friend was right or whether Warrick had just made a superhuman play. So in one of the painful nights after the game, Lee let the tape run and forced himself to watch the finish. He found out his friend was right. And Warrick was superhuman."

Thank you Hakim - and screw you Keith Smart.

KU fans only had to put up with replays of "The Block" for 5 years. I'm still recovering from 16 years of Keith Smart replays.

One of my favorite moments of the 03 title, leading the bar in a "F-Keith Smart" with Boss.
