#18: A tie, Art Monk and Chris Gedney

I know what you're thinking. We only started this stupid countdown yesterday and we're already at #18. Well with a tie we're doing the "one of these guys counts as #19" and move right along.

With a total of 17 HumpIdiot points Art Monk shares the #18 spot on the Top 20 Football Orangemen of the HumpIdiot Era. Art's senior year at the Cuse was 1979 which may technically fall outside of the HumpIdiot era. But what the hell, this guy has been snubbed enough in his career. We'll look the other way for a stupid list like this. Besides, is it possible to look any cooler than Art in this photo? I don't think so.

A full disclaimer: he should be way higher on the list, however several idiot voters failed to include him in this era.

A first-team All American in 1979, Art was the 18th overall pick of the Washington Redskins in 1980. In 2006 Art was elected to the Syracuse University Board of Trustees. A member of both the College and Professional Football Halls of Fame, Art can now add this stupid honor to his career.

The SportHump, "Just made great catches and ran back to the huddle."

Joining Art at #18 is tight end Chris Gedney ('89-'92). A member of Syracuse's All-Century team, Chris played for both the Bears and Cardinals. Mercifully, Chris has taken over color commentary from Coach Mac on Orange radio broadcasts.

Russianator, "Always had a soft spot for Gedney, which would have been even softer if he had found a way to get into the end zone against Miami in '92."

Champ, "Three more yards Chris. I still see Warren Sapp running around like he'd just won the Super Bowl on the Dome turf."

The Complete List:
18. Tie: Art Monk and Chris Gedney (17)
20. Kevin Mitchell (13)

Others receiving votes: James Mungro (12), Michael Owens (11), Damien Rhodes (11), Shelby Hill (10), Rob Konrad (9), Quinton Spotwood (9), Kevin Abrams (7), Kirby Dar Dar (6), Ted Gregory (5), Glen Young (3), Markus Paul (2), David Walker (2), Todd Philcox (1), Adam Terry (1).

I can't believe I left Chris Gedney off this list... I had Monk at #4, but I realize I was stretching back on that one.
