#20: Kevin Mitchell

The countdown of the Top 20 Football Orangemen of the HumpIdiot Era is underway. With 13 HumpIdiot points, the late Kevin Mitchell lands on the list at number 20.

Kevin was an oversight on my ballot and looking back I'm sure he's one of many defensive guys that I missed.

He was first team Big East in '92 and '93, and I remember him as the "stopper" in the middle of a decent Orange defense. Imagine this Cuse fans, during Kevin's career ('90-'93) Syracuse had a record of 33-12-3 (for the kids out there ties used to be common in college football prior to the implementation of overtime).

Tragically Kevin was taken from us way too early in April of 2007. Donnie Webb looked back at an article he wrote prior to the Syracuse-Ohio State (see the teams we used to compete with) game in '92.

Kudos to Boss, who rememberd to land Kevin on his list.

Boss: "Tragic death. Great instincts and leadership."

The Complete List:

20: Kevin Mitchell (13)

Others receiving votes: James Mungro (12), Michael Owens (11), Damien Rhodes (11), Shelby Hill (10), Rob Konrad (9), Quinton Spotwood (9), Kevin Abrams (7), Kirby Dar Dar (6), Ted Gregory (5), Glen Young (3), Markus Paul (2), David Walker (2), Todd Philcox (1), Adam Terry (1).

I totall screwed that one up too - he should have been on my list.

BTW - putting this together was HARD - I'm sure we'll get killed with all the guys we missed.

Ditto Russianator~

I actually got to meet him my senior year of high school. He was very intimidating to meet as a 5'10 175 lb scat back....
