Tuesday Morning Reading

Welcome to Tuesday, the Olympics continue, football teams are getting ready for the upcoming season and the Yankees are in a death spiral.....ah good times. At least it seems to rain everyday, which is fun. Let's get to some links.

Michael Phelps continues to be the story of the Olympics so far and you know what? I'm OK with that. On a related note, I turned the games on last night just in time to catch some synchronized diving - which my Olympic viewing was limited last night.

Speaking of meaningless, Aaron Rodgers started for the Packers last night in their first pre-season game. He looked decent, of course the game. much like two guys jumping into the water together, means nothing.

The Yankees continue their free fall right out of playoff contention, getting blanked by the Twins 4-0 last night. Here's my deep, well reasoned analysis of the situation, when you lose 11 of 16 at this point in the season - that's not good. There, think about that for a while. Meanwhile, the Mets lost to the Pirates and are still two and half games behind the Phillies.

In other baseball news, the NL's leading home run hitter Adam Dunn was traded (after the trade deadline I might add) to the Diamondbacks.

In Syracuse football news, safety AJ Brown is the latest player to be profiled, and he too is ready for a big season. In years past these articles would get me fired up, but after the last 3 years, I'm not quite buying it - I really hope I'm wrong.

In other Post Standard football coverage, the Orange will be playing freshman wide receivers, the linebackers are unsettled and Bud realizes that the schedule is tough.

Tom Dienart of Rivals says that if Greg Robinson is fired, Donovan McNabb will play a role in who they hire next, and Dienart speculates McNabb may push for current Eagles Offensive Coordinator Marty Mornhinweg. McNabb is on the University's Board of Trustees, but the role of the trustees has nothing to do with hiring coaches. Also, I know NOTHING about the relationship between Gross and McNabb but I can't see the good doctor asking number 5 to sit in on some interviews with him, so I'm more than a little skeptical about this story.

Contributing writer Jim Boeheim's comments about dining in China make Deadspin - ahhh good times.

Basketball is moving towards standardized rules.

Eli Manning - Vogue cover model.

Dwight Freeney and Bob Sanders could return to practice soon.

McNabb says he's ready for the season and accepts that he might not finish his career in Philly. Prediction - number 5 has a huge year - huge - or he gets hurt, that should just about cover the spectrum.

And I'll leave you with a scientific breakdown of fast food chicken sandwiches.

Delish.

I think food ranks for you idiots as it does for me , #2 behind sports.

Maybe a top 10 fast food sandwiches of all time, I know we've consumed a lot of them together.
