We are also huge fans drinking beer and grilling meat in parking lots before sporting events - and let's be honest, for SU football games beer is a necessity, sitting through one of those affairs sober is about as pleasant as staring at Chris Cooley's junk.
So, you can imagine our surprise on Saturday, when just as we're getting ready to leave our parking area and trek up to the Dome to watch Penn State destroy Syracuse, a really tall white guy pulls into the lot next to our group of cars. Using my quick goat thinking, I immediately deduce that said large man is none other than the waffle himself.
He gets out of the car and asks us where to catch the bus up to the Dome, at which point we tell him we're walking and he immediately decides to join us. Prior to embarking on our 10 minute journey, we ask the K man if he wants a beer, at which point one of the drunken idiots asks him if he's allowed to have a beer - his response - "I'm 23 years old, hell yeah I can have a beer."
This awkward exchange lead to quick discussion about the lack of drinking laws in Belgium, and we were off. We never said we were smart. I'm proud to report that while he seems like a good dude, in person he's awesome. Extremely friendly and personable, Kristof put up with all our questions and was quick to fill us in on this year's hoop team. Among the knowledge the waffle dropped:
- He's still close to Donte Greene and he's happy he's in Sacramento, because he'll get some playing time there.
- Freshman Mookie Jones and Kris Joseph are fitting in well and working hard.
- We are all going to be happy when transfer Wesley Johnson takes the floor for the Orange next year, our man Kristof reports that he's really good.
All in all, Kris was a great guy and we couldn't have been happier to have met him. We took a few pictures with him to commemorate the situation and here's one just to prove we're not totally making this up......and Kristof, you've got a standing invitation to join us any time you want, you know where to find us.
A bunch of fat guys with our new friend Kristof - the photo where we all show our faces was far too scary too post - we are ugly

Thats awesome boys. wish i was there with ya...
shortcut through the cemetary. ah, i remember that walk all too well....
I ran into the waffle over the weekend after I had left the game. We were walking towards Varsity from Marshall street and this really tall white guy was walking towards us.
Being the quick thinker that I am, all I could get off was a "Yeah Kristoff!" as we passed by him. He looked back as did I, and we just went on our separate ways but, hey, it was the waffle!
Do you guys wear matching shorts on purpose? Or is that just happenstance?
We were all wearing these:
