We're lending a hand to Doctor Daryl Gross here at T3I by sifting through resumes of potential head coaching candidates for the Orange in 2009. We've added a new candidate that has been popular as of late, ECU's Skip Holtz. This week's update:
Turner Gill, Buffalo: A week after besting UTEP, Coach Gill's UB Bulls put a scare into Pittsburgh (which isn't difficult). UB quarterback Drew Willy (that name is fun to say) threw for 223 yards and one touchdown.
Mike Locksely, Offensive Coordinator, Illinois: Juice Williams had a field day as the Illini beat up on Eastern Illinois 47-21. Locksley's crew put up 532 yards of total offense in the win.
Al Golden, Temple: Al's Owls lost a close one to UConn 12-9 in a game played against Tropical Storm Hannah. The AP game recap included this nugget on Al's rebuilding job:
"Slowly, Golden is making the Owls respectable again. Golden led the Owls to a four-win season a year ago, which included the first three-game winning streak since 1990. Shifting from the Big East to the Mid-American Conference has certainly helped the Owls become more competitive over the past year."
Hmmmmm.....I wonder if the MAC is accepting new applicants for it's football league?
Skip Holtz, ECU: Last week T3I posters (both of them) pointed out that we really should have Skip Holtz on the list. Even Axeman has thrown out his name in his latest must-read post "Sorting Through The Rubble."
ECU made it 2-2 this season with another upset of a ranked opponent, this week knocking off #8 ranked West Virginia. East Carolina held the Mountaineers to without a touchdown for the first time since 2001 as they racked up 386 yards of offense.

What's up Fellas..
From an ECU graduate and lifelong Syracuse Fan, I really don't think Skip would ever consider coming here. He is getting prepped to take over an SEC team -or- if the Charlie Weiss regime doesn't hold tight, Notre Dame. I am hoping GROB is ousted after our 72-3 loss to Penn State.
That was rough Saturday...
