Week 1 of the Colonial Athletic Association/ACC Challenge is complete. This isn't exactly what used car salesman John Swofford envisioned with his dream of turning the ACC into a major player in college football.
That ACC title game has been a real winner John. ACC fans, they know how to pack a house:

Can you imagine the outcry if the Big East pulled off a weekend where they lost two games against I-AA or "Playoff Subdivision" schools like the ACC just did? Let's call the ACC's expansion exactly what it is. A complete disappoinment. The conference managed to pick up a Miami team on the downslide, a Virginia Tech team that can't beat a ranked team, and a Boston College team....well....that just continues to be Boston College.
Conference championship games really don't mean much. The SEC started the fad back in the early '90s and their game remains the only compelling one to watch, usually due to national title implications. Quick, name your favorite ACC title game moment. (crickets...crickets) Exactly.
Swofford managed to water down a basketball conference at the expense of a cash cow fantasy that isn't going to play out any time soon. Add on the fact that the Lexus he thought he was buying (Miami) has turned out to be a Kia leaves a big smile on my face.
The football Big East has plenty of problems. Fortunately, losing multiple games in one weekend to 1-AA schools is not one of them.
John, about that Honda Civic, how much for the rustproofing?

Home run Champ. I agree 100 percent, you crushed this.
Death to the ACC!
This warmed the cockles of my ACC-hating heart. Looks like Paulus got out just in time....
UMD plays James Madison this weekend, so it might not be over yet!
