Today Mike Williams decided it was a good idea to quit the SU football program. We're not sure if there's any truth the rumor that he'll soon be working at Bojangles, but the move certainly doesn't bode well for his future as a football player. Sean will be all over this today, so stay tuned for more information.
While there is no information yet about how Williams broke the news to Marrone, I imagine it went something like this:

I, for one, will say "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out."
I'll be brutally honest. I haven't been as impressed with Williams as others obviously have. Yes, he's a good receiver, but I still think he's a bit overrated. He's made some great catches, but he's also had some truly awful drops (and a lot of them). The latter part is something everyone conveniently seems to forget.
To say that the season is totally lost due to him leaving (as some are saying) is way too premature. There are some decent receivers on the team and they've done well enough. Everyone's so wrapped up in the "bowl talk" that they've forgotten the fact that this team isn't really all that good. Yes, they've improved a bit, but this is essentially the same team that was around last year.
Marrone will not turn this team around overnight. I said to people at the beginning of the season that I'd be satisfied if they can win 4 games this year. Marrone is a pretty good coach overall and can recruit. Give this guy 2-3 years and he'll make this program respectable again.
As for Williams, he's pulled this garbage before and he clearly wasn't interested in the student aspect of this university. This isn't the first time he's had problems and I really have to wonder how smart this guy is when leaves a harsh quote on his Twitter account.
I for one say good riddance to bad rubbish.
oops, I meant Facebook, not Twitter. My mistake
I agree he had too many drops and I also agree the season is not lost.
However, you can't question his production - the numbers are what they are - and they are good. The loss will be felt.
I think in the overall picture of things, L'ville is the only game the team has a shot of winning. With M. Williams, I think they could have got UConn or Rutgers.
The bottom line is you are right - there's a ton of work left for Marrone to do.
I don't have nearly as much to momment on as blagha does, simple put, Mike Williams is a cunt for quitting. The School / Program gave you the opportunity to repair what he had previously done and he has thrown that opportunity away. This just goes to show you that people that truly suck dont deserve a second chance, they just deserve the door.
