Jimmy Valvano's Cinderella '83 NC State team lands at the #4 spot on the Top 20 NCAA Champions, Other Than 2003 Syracuse, Of The HumpIdiot Era.
AJV, "Any underdog deserves consideration; the fact that they were lead by a great Italian-American earns them spots in the top 10."
Boss, "Never has a program lived off of one success more than the Wolfpack...its kind of sad, and it only happened because Guy Lewis botched the game strategy. "
Captain, "I love watching the end / post game. Raw emotion from Jim Valvano, huge upset, everything that college hoops is about. If you don't like this game you're a commie. "
Russianator, "Derrick Whittenberg, Lorenzo Charles and Jimmy V running around like a mad man. An all time classic."
Champ, "I remember staying up late to watch this one as a kid on a little black and white TV in our kitchen. Houston Cougars, another stacked team never to win a title. The ending is just an iconic moment in American sports history."

Fail....The 1983 game was the greatest upset in NCAA history...You are right, yall are idiots
Dean anonymous - using "yall" doesn't make you sound any smarter than we are - and Villanova would disagree with you there.
"Never has a program lived off of one success more than the Wolfpack..."
Um, State's won TWO national titles? They were 57-1 during a two-year run in the 70's. They ended UCLA's run of dominance and were led by arguably the greatest college basketball player ever in David Thompson.
Not to mention State's won 10 ACC titles, as well.
Not sure how old you guys are, but it's clear you don't know much--if anything--about State's basketball program and history.
And saying that someone who uses the term "y'all" makes them sound less-educated that yourself is pretty poor form, as well.
James:
I see this got linked on an NC State message board, so thanks for stopping by. Let me explain.
It's a silly little countdown ranking the best NCAA champions of the last 30 years. Nothing more, nothing less, so let's all calm down here.
I looked at the post and frankly we said some nice things about NC State - 1983 was awesome.
No need to get your knickers all twisted over one comment.
Nesides I personally loved the Vinny Del Negro and Chris Corchini (sp) backcourt.
Well, when the comment is patently false, it deserves to be called out.
I see you take yourself very seriously -- on this site, we don't do a lot of serious.
I was trying to be gracious but let me try and explain one more time.
Historically you are correct, NC State has had some great basketball success. The point of this countdown was to lightheartedly rank the NCAA champions we enjoyed the best over the past 30 years. Viewing the comment through that prism, it makes makes sense.
Especially when you consider the fact that NC State hasn't won the ACC in more than 20 years. NC State hasn't had a season with less than 10 losses in more than 20 years. NC State has barely been relevant nationally since Jim Valvano left.
I would like to thank NC State for Julius Hodge though - when he picked State over SU, the Orange took Hakim Warrick, who saved the 2003 title game.
Also, Sidney Lowe's red sport coats make him look like a movie usher - you guys gotta do something about that.
Dear James C-
Go chase your sister and fucking die.
Yours truly,
The Captain
