Today's random Yankee stat of the day -- so far this year Brett Gardner has as many or more stolen bases (9) than ten other MLB teams -- including the Red Sox, who have only swiped 8 bags so far this year.
Here's Brett's inside the park home run from last year. Dude's got jets.

I kid, I actually really like Garnder. I'm a big fan of the home grown players if for nothing more than to throw it back in the face of the Pink Hat Red Sux fans who bitch about the Yanks "buying players."
Gardner WAS the prototypical 9th batter in the past. In the American league now, however, you are getting these guys (Cano, Pedroia, Beckham) who play positions which used to be that .270, 6HR and 50 RBI slot, where now these guys are 20/20/100 and contending for batting titles. I like Gardner too, but he better get his swing down and be more than an infield hit threat or he will be an obscure World Series trivia question in 4 years.
